A Famosa, Melaka

A famosa,which means famous in Portuguese language was also built by the Portuguese as soon as they successfully captured Malacca in 1512. A Famosa is located in Bandar Hilir, Melaka next to the replica of the Malacca Sultanate Palace and St. Paul. It is the oldest surviving European architecture in Asia.

Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum, Melaka

Melaka Sultanate Palace, located at the foot of St. Paul’s Hill, is a replica of the 15th-century palace of Sultan Mansur Shah. Also known as Muzium Kebudayaan or the Cultural Museum, it is now converted into a museum of Malay Sultanate's heritage and history. The three-story Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum is divided into eight chambers with traditional costume, art, weaponry, jewellery and other artefacts on display. The museum also houses three galleries showcasing the local legends through dioramas. A major highlight is the sculpture of sultan's headdress, standing regally at the centre of the museum garden.

Fort Cornwallis, Penang

Located at Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah, Fort Cornwallis (Kota Cornwallis in Malay) is one of the most important structures in George Town, Penang. It is the largest intact standing fort in Malaysia which was built for defending Penang from pirate attacks. Named after Charles Marquis Cornwallis, the Governor General of Bengal, the design of Fort Cornwallis is very much like that of other British forts in India.
